A small leak is no small matter. A hinge pin on a check valve had a minor leak that needed to be addressed. The client didn’t want to incur the outage and cost of a purge, nor did they want to compromise the integrity of the line by using a full-bore line tap. |

Planning and delivery |
The IsoTool was run through 255 miles of 16” pipe, often exceeding pig speeds of 7.5 mph. The IsoTool’s resilient construction allowed for it to successfully travel this distance and speed and be parked DS of a station by Integral’s pig trackers. Once in position, the IsoTool was set in 1 hour, after which a 30-minute Isolation Assurance Test was completed. The mechanical crew replaced all the seals in the hinge pin assembly in 40 minutes. The culprit of the leak was a cracked seal. The IsoTool traveled a total of 283 miles and was pulled with no damage and very little wear to the travel cups and discs. The client was pleased with the simplicity of fixing their small problem, and there are no “small” leaks. |
