Inaugural 18” IsoTool Isolation

Integrals 18” IsoTool provides isolation for a leaking trap valve in its inaugural run. The client wanted to replace a leaking launch valve and trap bypass valve on a gasoline pipeline. This valve was presenting a potential safety concern every time a pig needed to be loaded.

The best solution

To avoid leaving fittings on the pipeline, or purging several miles, the client contacted Integral to quickly, safely and economically provide a seal so the two valves could be changed out.

Plan and deliver

The 18” IsoTool was pumped 75 feet to its target parking zone and was sent in 51 minutes. The valve change outs were performed efficiently, and the IsoTool was unset the next day after holding 30psi for 23 hours. The IsoTool is capable of holding significantly more pressure than this, but whenever possible the project plan is prepared such that the pressure is as low as possible. In this case pressure was bled back through the IsoTool’s internal bypass to achieve simple head pressure.

Integral technicians tracked the pig to trap where it was pulled without event.
